Description

Embroidered woolen jackets, with an eye catching appeal,
are made by the same artisans who are known world over
for creating some of the finest shawls. Techniques
employed here for making embroidery are the same that
are used in making embroidery on Kashmiri shawls. The
embroidery of Kashmir is very delicate and mainly has
floral patterns. Nature has been very kind and bountiful
here. The valleys are full of colorful flowers, chinar
trees (maple), and badam (almond) trees. In Kashmir
embroidery the motifs are of paisley or almond shape,
chinar leaf, delicate flowers and leaf. 'Sozuni'
embroidery style associated with shawls and jackets is
extremely delicate and is usually done with one strand
of thread. The stitches that are employed are mainly
Stem, Cretan, Fly and Darning. The fineness and minute
details of the embroidery style are simply awe
inspiring. With a piece like this in your closet, you
will always have something to wear.
